A district earning the Certificate of Excellence receives not only the award, but enhanced credibility for the financial management of its school system.

Meritorious Budget Awards Program
The Meritorious Budget Awards Program encourages and recognizes excellence in school system budgeting. Those who successfully complete this program receive the prestigious Meritorious Budget Award; enhance the credibility of their budget with their superintendent, school board and community; and boost the professionalism of their budget staff.

Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting (GFOA)
The Certificate Program, which was established in 1945, is designed to recognize and encourage excellence in financial reporting by state and local governments. Participation in the program reflects a significant proportion of larger general purpose governments in the United States.
