Reading: Next week we will learn that we as readers can use not only our voice, but our bodies as well, to bring a book to life. We will then have a celebration of reading to learn about the world. We'll also learn that as readers, it's important to make sure our audience is attentive and understands the information being read to them.
Phonics: We will review contractions and celebrate all of our hard work by having a tournament of word games. Playing word games is a great way to stregnthen phonics skills, by deeply thinking about words. Ask your child how to play"I Spy" with words!
Writing: Next week, our writers will use everything they know, to plan and write new nonfiction chapter books. Writers will use tools such as charts, mentor texts, and other writers to aid in the process and development.
Math: We will continue Unit 5 discussing Place Value in order to compare numbers using symbols. We will then look at 2 digit addition and subtraction, using base 10 blocks. Our number scrolls will be something we continue to work on as well.
Social Studies: We will continue to learn about Martin Luther King, which goes along with our Historical Figures unit. We also will look at some historical artifacts.
