OJR Comprehensive Wellness Framework

OJR Wellness Goal #1 (Grades K-6)

Promote a culture of wellness, belonging, and prevention by strengthening protective factors that support the mental health, emotional well-being, and healthy decision-making of all students and staff.

Outcomes:

  • Increase awareness, education, and prevention efforts related to mental health, substance misuse, stress management, and overall wellness for students, staff, and families.
  • Expand opportunities for students to participate in peer leadership, advocacy, and wellness initiatives that promote healthy choices, resilience, kindness, and connectedness.
  • Increase access to mental health education, suicide prevention resources, and social-emotional learning supports across all grade levels.
  • Strengthen school environments that support emotional regulation, sensory needs, inclusion, and positive coping strategies through initiatives such as wellness spaces, sensory supports, mindfulness activities, and student wellness programming.
  • Foster stronger family and community partnerships that support whole-child wellness and increase awareness of available mental health and wellness resources.
  • Promote staff wellness and self-care through districtwide wellness initiatives, engagement opportunities, and supportive resources that encourage healthy work-life balance and emotional well-being.

Sustain and enhance a healthy school environment that promotes lifelong physical wellness, positive nutrition habits, and active lifestyles for all students and staff.

Outcome:

  • Maintain full compliance with the Owen J. Roberts School District Wellness Policy while expanding opportunities that support nutrition education, physical activity, and healthy school environments across all buildings.

OJR Wellness Goal #1 (Grades 7–12)

To strengthen protective factors and reduce risk factors associated with mental health challenges, substance misuse, stress, and social-emotional well-being among secondary students.

Outcomes:

  • Increase awareness, prevention, and education related to substance use, vaping, alcohol misuse, and other high-risk behaviors for students, staff, and families.
  • Expand mental health awareness, suicide prevention education, and access to supportive resources for students, staff, and caregivers.
  • Increase student engagement in peer leadership, advocacy, and wellness initiatives that promote healthy decision-making, resilience, inclusion, and positive school climate.
  • Strengthen students’ self-regulation, coping, and stress-management skills through social-emotional learning, mindfulness, and wellness programming.
  • Foster safe, supportive, and inclusive school environments that promote belonging, connectedness, and positive relationships among students and staff.

  • Increase opportunities for students to engage in physical activity and movement throughout the school day through physical education, extracurricular programs, wellness events, and movement-based activities.
  • Promote healthy nutrition habits and wellness awareness through health education, nutrition initiatives, and collaboration with food service programs.
  • Expand opportunities that support physical, emotional, and social wellness through mindfulness, movement, and wellness-focused programming.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive school climate that encourages lifelong healthy habits, self-care, teamwork, and active engagement.
