  • Important Information  

      • Please send your child with coats and gloves! Sweatshirts are no longer warm enough! We will be going outside for at least 20 minutes a day and it is getting really chilly out there!
      • Please remember to send your child to school with a peanut free snack every day. 
      • Water bottles (filled with water only, please) are welcome as long as they do not leak due to use of iPads at desks.

      Starting on November 15 hundreds of schools across the nation will compete against each other to recycle the most plastic film as part of the TREX recycling challenge. The winning schools will receive a high-performance composite bench made from recycled materials. There will be a collection bin located in the school. The following are accepted: grocery bags, bread bags, case overwrap, dry cleaning bags, newspaper sleeves, ice bags, wood pellet bags, ziplock & other re-sealable bags, produce bags, bubble wrap, salt bags, and cereal bags. All materials must be clean, dry and free of food residue. The contest ends April 15, 2020 and winners will be announced on Earth Day.

What's New?
  • What's New in 3rd Grade?


    This week in math, we:


    • wrote two-step number stories to fit a number sentence
    • used the order of operations to solve multistep problems
    • solved two-step number stories and represent them with equations


    Next week, we will be reviewing and taking our Unit 6 Assessment.



    This week in reading, we began our Character Studies unit and new read-aloud, Because of Winn Dixie. We learned to pay attention to what a character says and does in order to come up with an idea about them.


    This week in writing, we continued to prepare for the final copies of our informational books. We revisited our checklists, fact-checked, and edited/revised our work.



    This week in science, we learned about crystals and discovered how to test rocks for their mineral components.


    Word Study- There will be no word study the week of 2/10, sight words will be tested week of 2/17 & word study will resume week of 2/24. 


    • Orange group tests every Friday
    • Green and Blue groups will test every other week. 
    • There will be written homework every Monday and the night before your child's test. All other nights your child should sort and study their words.
    • In order to pass the test, all students will need to spell two new words that fit the sort as well as write their discovery. PLEASE study the discovery nightly!
