  • Math & Lit Invite

    Important Information 

    • Water bottles (filled with water only, please) are welcome as long as they do not leak due to use of iPads at desks.
    • There has been A LOT of sickness traveling aroudn our classroom so please encourage students to continue using healthy habits including washing hands, using hand sanitizer when needed, and keeping their hands to themselves. Bring on the Spring!!

    **We are in need of pencils, tissues, and clorox wipes if you are interested in donating items to our classroom. Thank you to the continued donations and classroom support! Thank you for sending in extra snacks for the kids too. :)

      Monday 3/16: Read 30 minutes, WS: SORT & Write in notebook = Orange, PYS = green & blue

      Tuesday 3/17: Read 30 minutes, WS: PYS, Math: 8-1

      Wednesday 3/18: Read 30 minutes, WS: PYS, Math: 8-2

      Thursday 3/19:  Read 30 minutes, WS: ALL GROUPS Blind Sort, Math 8-3

      Friday 3/20: Read 30 minutes 

       

      TREX RECYCLING CHALLENGE

      Thank you for seding in your plastic!

      Starting on November 15 hundreds of schools across the nation will compete against each other to recycle the most plastic film as part of the TREX recycling challenge. The winning schools will receive a high-performance composite bench made from recycled materials. There will be a collection bin located in the school. The following are accepted: grocery bags, bread bags, case overwrap, dry cleaning bags, newspaper sleeves, ice bags, wood pellet bags, ziplock & other re-sealable bags, produce bags, bubble wrap, salt bags, and cereal bags. All materials must be clean, dry and free of food residue. The contest ends April 15, 2020 and winners will be announced on Earth Day.

What's New?
  • What's New in 3rd Grade?

    Math:

    This week in math, we:

    • compared fractions using visual models such as number lines, fraction strips, and fraction circles

    • completed number stories with fractions
    • reviewed for Unit 7 test 

    • Started Unit 7 test on Friday, 3/13 and will finish Monday, 3/16. 

    Reading

    This week in reading, we finished reading our beloved class read aloud, Winn Dixie.  We learned how characters resolve problems, learn valuabe life lesson in stories, and discuss the events and characters in a story even after we are finished. 

    Writing

    This week in writing, we started our new Persuasive Writing Unit. We shared our opinions about topics in school we agree and disagree with.  

    Technology- 

    This week we continued practicing multiplication facts using Xtra Math, Rocket Math AND Math Flash Cards. We played fraction games on Connect Ed and continued to use SeeSaw, Epic, Freckle, Prodigy, and Google Classroom.

    Word Study- ALL groups will test on Friday, 3/20. 

    ONE WEEK VS TWO WEEK SORTS

    • Orange group tests every Friday
    • Green and Blue groups will test every other week. 
    • There will be written homework every Monday and the night before your child's test. All other nights your child should sort and study their words.
    • In order to pass the test, all students will need to spell two new words that fit the sort as well as write their discovery. PLEASE study the discovery nightly!
