• American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification Course



    This class is for both full certification as well as recertification.  You must be able to attend every night of this class! There will be reading and prep work needed outside of class. 

    Minimum class size: 4 

    Maximum class size (Full Course): 10, (Recertification) : 4

    Monday through Friday   March 20th through March 29th – 3:00 ‐ 5:15 p.m. 

    There will be a mandatory pre course swim test on Wednesday March 15th that will run from 4:00- 4:45 p.m. This pretest will involve the mandatory completion of 300 yards to pass the course.


    Must be 15 years of age on or before the final scheduled session of this course.  The following water tests will be administered the first night of class: 

    • Must successfully complete: 
      • 300 yards of continuous swimming demonstrating breaststroke and freestyle, swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive 7‐10 feet, retrieve 10‐lb object, return to surface, swim 20 yards back to starting point with object 
    • Must tread water for 2 minutes 

    Class equipment:  Supplied 

    • 2 adult CPR dummies, 2 infant CPR dummies, 1 AED simulator, 4 rescue tubes 1 ring buoy, 1 Sheppard’s hook or reaching pole, 2 backboards, first aid kit 

    Required materials for each student (provided by instructor AND included in course fee):

    • American Red Cross Lifeguarding course manual (online) 
    • American Red Cross Adult/Child and Infant CPR Mask 
    • American Red Cross certification cards for lifeguarding/first aid and CPR/AED upon successful completion of course
