What does the School Board do?

n compliance with state and federal laws, the school board establishes policies and regulations by which the district is governed. The School Board is responsible for:

  • Setting the vision and goals for the district
  • Adopting policies to guide the district administration
  • Hiring and evaluating the superintendent
  • Adopting and overseeing the annual budget
  • Approving the school calendar
  • Providing for necessary school facilities
  • Reviewing courses of study and textbooks
  • Advocating on behalf of public education
