Volunteer Information
Owen J. Roberts School District welcomes community volunteers to help support our students and classrooms. We firmly believe that volunteers are a critical partner in helping us create a quality educational experience for our students and that volunteers directly contribute to school climate and student engagement.
If you’re a resident looking to support our community’s students, we invite you to volunteer at our schools and join us for exciting activities and important learning opportunities. We thank you for your interest and hope you find the following resources helpful:
First, a quick review of OJR School Board Policy 916, which defines a volunteer as an adult individual serving in an unpaid position with a school or a program, activity, or service as a person responsible for the welfare of one or more children or having direct volunteer contact with children. The Volunteer Policy applies to parents and all other members of the community who volunteer in our schools, or serve as overnight chaperones.

Next, volunteer applicants must complete the following four clearances prior to completing the Volunteer Application.

Act 34 Pennsylvania Criminal History Check
- As required by Act 34 – Dated no more than one year prior to the application date. The application is found online through PATCH at https://epatch.pa.gov/home

Act 151 PA Department of Human Services Child Abuse History
- As required by Act 151 – Dated no more than one year prior to the application date. The application is found online at https://www.compass.state.pa.us/cwis/public/home.

Act 114 Federal Criminal History Report
- Dated no more than one year prior to the application date. This requires fingerprinting to be done. Please see registration and directions at IdentoGo - https://uenroll.identogo.com. Use Service Code 1KG6ZJ which will take you directly to the section- Identogo Department of Human Services (DHS) Pennsylvania website.
- Please Note – this is not required for a volunteer who completes a written statement that he or she has been a Pennsylvania resident during the entirety of the previous 10 year period. The written statement can be found by clicking here.

PDE – 6004 - Act 24 Arrest/Conviction Report and Certification Form
- Dated as of application date. The PDE -6004 form can be found by clicking here.

By providing your signature at the end of the application process, you will be agreeing to abide by the rules and regulations of the District Volunteer Program,and Policy 916. Please note that any volunteer who is in direct contact with students for 10 or more hours per week is also required to:

Receive a tuberculin skin test and provide documentation of the same in accordance with Pennsylvania Department of Health regulations.

- Additional Information
- Part of the application indicates that if the applicant is arrested or convicted of any of the enumerated offenses while serving as an interim non-faculty sponsor, they shall provide the building principal with written notice no later than 72 hours after an arrest or conviction.
Additionally, all school volunteers and school visitors are subject to Raptor (or such other building level security program as may exist) screening. All clearances must be dated within one year of the application. No individual will be approved to serve as a volunteer if any of the required clearances evidence an offense which would preclude such an individual from being employed in the Pennsylvania public schools.
