Course Objectives/Learning Outcomes:

In Spanish IV honors you will be developing and building on intermediate/advanced level listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in Spanish. The focus is on real world application of the language. This course will prepare you for future college level study including the Advanced Placement Spanish Language and Culture course.
By the completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Communicate using verbs in the following tenses/ moods: present indicative, present perfect, preterit, imperfect, future, conditional, present subjunctive, imperfect subjunctive
- Apply all tenses listed above according to the context of the sentence
- Perform on all levels, speaking, reading, writing, listening comprehension with respect to the following thematic units: nature and the environment, family customs and values, heroes and historical figures, communication and social networking, economics and finance, health and medicine
- Understand geography, history and culture of Spain and explain identifying characteristics in regional accents and architecture
- Understand the importance of the Pre-Colombian cultures in the Americas
- Analyze and discuss some poems and short stories
